Mortar-bedded ridges
If the mortar has broken away and the tile moves, loose material needs removing before rebedding.

These rely on screws, clips and connectors. A failed fitting should be replaced rather than covered with mortar.

Once there is safe access, it makes sense to see whether the adjoining sections are still firmly fixed.
